フィリピン・マリアン・フェスティバル Fr.Jack 2009/10/20(火)
| Filipinos and other nationalities from the four prefectures of the Diocese of Saitama gathered for the first time on August 30, 2009 at the Mikokoro Kai Shudoin grounds in Tomobe, Ibaraki Prefecture. The day was filled with excitement and joy amidst the threat of heavy rain, typhoon and influenza virus but nothing could hamper the Filipino people’s desire of having a “Christian Family Reunion”. Food booths sprouted all over and the fiesta mood energized everybody. But first and foremost, it was a gathering of the Catholic faithful wanting to give witness to their faith in Jesus Christ through the Blessed Mother Mary. The festival started with the Holy Eucharist and Santacruzan which is a combination of the Christian Faith and the Filipino culture. Then the beautiful cultural presentations of the different communities followed. The description of the whole event can be summarized by the happy faces of all participants as we can see in the pictures. It was a joyful day of prayer, a witnessing of the Filipino Christian faith and a gathering of love. No wonder that the rain didn’t fall until the last number of the program was presented.
